Day 1 of the 365 Days of Kindness project was a busy one! Jackson and I had a ton of people over for an Arkham Horror game day/New Years party. We made a boat load of food and had a fantastic time. I can't think of a better way to start the year than surrounded by friends, food, and board games. Do recommend.
Once the games were done and our guests went home it was time for me to embark on my first act of kindness for 2015. I had given this first act of the project quite a bit of thought and settled on doing something fun and anonymous to ease myself into the year. So it was that I found myself taking a walk in the chilly January air this evening to leave a "Cozy Night In" care package on a bus bench for a stranger to pick up and (hopefully) enjoy:
In the package was a coffee mug, a few packets of hot chocolate mix, and my copy of Miriam Toews' A Complicated Kindness - a book I thoroughly enjoyed and have always meant to pass on for someone else to enjoy as well. I hope whoever finds it digs it as much as I did or that, at the very least, my silly little bus stop gift puts a smile on their face.
My first step into this project was more casual fun than grand gesture, but it has left me feeling excited to move forward. I've got some great ideas for the coming weeks and I can't wait to build these acts and accompanying posts into my daily routine. It's going to be a great year.
Happy New Year, friends! I wish you all the most happy, rewarding, and joyful 2015. See you tomorrow.
