#365DaysOfKindness Days 207-213: School, Shows, & Sidewalk Sales

#365DaysOfKindness is a year-long experiment in kindness, generosity, and service at VanessaMeads.com. Check back each Tuesday for more kindnesses, or view previous posts here

Last week was a good one, friends. I attended my last class, submitted the final paper of my degree (woohoo!), and saw one of my favourite artists live. I can't believe how quickly the summer is flying by, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tiny bit glad. It's nice to be so close to reclaiming my spare time (not to mention my mental space) for something besides school. Don't get me wrong - I'm so glad I decided to go back to school - but there are so many things that I want to learn and do and see that I've had to put on hold to finish my degree. Now I'm free to start chipping away at those things, and I couldn't be happier about it! I've got some plans for this little blog of mine as well, so stay tuned.

Here are last week's kindnesses:

Sun, July 26th (207): Donated 500 grains of rice with FreeRice.com. This has quickly become my favourite way to re-focus myself when I'm just sitting on the couch at a loss for what to tackle next. It's just the right mix of focus and challenge to get me ready to work. Do recommend!

Mon, July 27th (208): Gave positive feedback on my classmates' presentations for our final projects.

Tues, July 28th (209): Signed the #EatThinkVote petition calling for a basic income in Canada: http://campaign.foodsecurecanada.org/join_the_movement

Wed, July 29th (210): Smiled at strangers. I always feel like such a goof when I do this on purpose, but a little pleasant interaction sure beats passing each other on the street without any kind of acknowledgment. I can see you and you can see me, so why ignore each other? Human beings are so weird sometimes.

Thurs, July 30th (211): Bought a CD at a Watsky show we went to (because supporting artists you love is where it's at). I usually stream my music via Rdio, but try to buy CDs at shows if I really love an artist as well. It's the best way I know to balance not filling my home with "stuff" while also supporting independent artists. You know?

Fri, July 31st (212): Donated 350 grains of rice with FreeRice.com

Sat, Aug 1st (213): Bought lemonade from some kids on the sidewalk (and let them keep the change). I love that selling lemonade on the corner is still a thing. You go, kids!

See you next week!
